Question re: dremel 395 series 5, flex shaft and 212 drill press stand

I have a dremel 395 series 5 and a flex shaft. I can't seem to figure out to use the 212 type II stand with the flex shaft attached. I googled - it says everything is compatible. I am even having trouble fitting the dremel 395 itself into the 2 holes (especially the small one) even with screws completely removed.

Hi NYCity141,

Thank you for contacting us!

Dremel has been in business since 1932, and with such a long history, it's not uncommon for online sources like Google to occasionally misidentify tool and attachment compatibility. For the most accurate information, we recommend reaching out to our knowledgeable product experts directly—they’re always happy to help.

The tools you mentioned have been around for over 20 years, so even our experts sometimes need to revisit compatibility details. The 395 Series 5 is actually the Model 395 Type 5, manufactured between 1997 and 2000. The 212 Drill Press was produced between 1988 and 2003. These two items are compatible and work well together.

However, the 225 Flex Shaft is not compatible with the 395 when it's mounted in the 212 Drill Press.

To assist you further, could you please provide a photo of your 395 and 212 Drill Press? A visual reference will help us better understand your setup and any issues you might be experiencing.
