Hello,
I have a Dremel 290. I would like to engrave sea shells. I assume I need a diamond tip but am checking with you before purchasing. Thanks!

Hi cfrary,
Thank you for your question. The 290 Engraver tool with the carbide bit should be able to etch in shells. It would be great if you could try the engraving project and show us your results. Etching can also be done with a rotary tool.
Even though seashells are a natural resource, etching, drilling or cutting them creates a fine dust. When cutting or drilling seashells we recommend wearing proper respiratory protection and use a dust collection system. Before drilling or cutting seashells, properly clamp or secure the piece in place and never support the shell or workpiece with your hands.
