I have a 1/2" piece of cut plexiglass, that I need to sand down the edges. Do you have a suggestion on what dremel tool that I should use?

Thanks!

Hi sclowe01,

I'd say just about any Dremel rotary tool would be good for this purpose. I do suggest that you experiment on some scrap pieces first to determine which sanding accessory you want to use and test the results. I suggest trying the 445 1/2" Sanding band accessory becuase it has a fine (240) grit and it should provide a smooth finish. Because Plexi is basically plastic, excessive heat build-up is an issue. Use slower tool speeds to reduce overheating and don't spend too much time sanding in one area. This prevents burning and melting the plastic. You can alway come back to an area once it has had time to cool.

What i did was using a torch and a file. I heated the glass, not directly flame touching it, then ran the file down the length of it, in one direction. All that was after using a Dremel with a sanding band to get it as even as i could. I would even use a torch on the underside, where the flame was touching, but moving it quickly, not keeping it in one spot. It was trial and error.
