I wanted to repair a plastic device using the flat blade tip (wood burning tip?) on one of my old VersaTip 1550 T2 tools. I got half way through melting the plastic, and set the tool aside while I adjusted components on the device. When I picked up the tool again it had quit heating, and I can't get it to heat anymore. I had to finish the job using a second 1550 T2 I'd bought years ago but had never opened the package.
The core doesn't seem to want to unscrew from the handle so I can try to ferret out the problem. How does this unit disassemble? Is there a fuse?

Hi Hafcanadian,
Thanks for your question.
As for the 1550, the core of the burner does not unscrew. If the tip is stuck in the tool, we do not have a solution and the tool does not have a fuse.
1550 Corded VersaTip was manufacture from 1990 - 2021.
I wish I had better news for you. Here is a link to the New Butane VersaTip
