How can I drill holes in small rocks with my Dremel?  Are there particular bits that work the best?  What is the best way to hold the rock stationary while drilling?

Hi magendie,

Thanks you so much for starting a topic on drilling rocks.  Before I suggest an accessory or attachment to use, what rotary tool do you have?  On your tool will be a model number, please let me know what the number is and I'll get back to you.  😊

I have an old-school Dremel model 4500.

Hi magendie,

Thanks for the reply.  We don't have record of a model 4500.  Can you please send us a photo of the front and back of your tool?

Thank you!

Since rocks come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and hardness we do not have anything that will drill holes through them.  Most rocks are a very hard material to get through and is also an exceptionally hot process.   Search the internet on tips and tricks on how to drill holes in rocks or check out a lapidary site to learn how they get the job done.

We can etch/engrave on rocks with our Tungsten Carbed bits. Information on Tungsten Carbide Cutters Here
